Wood Chipping & Green Waste Container
There will be two opportunities to receive free residential roadside chipping this summer in July and in late September. Kirkwood Firewise has coordinated Amador RCD to provide free residential roadside chipping beginning July 31st. To sign up go please go to the Kirkwood Firewise website here.
The Kirkwood Meadows Public Utility will also provide chipping beginning on September 25th.
Here’s what you need to know to prepare for chipping services:
Stack only cut brush and limbs up to 4 inches in diameter within 5 feet of the road edge, with cut ends facing toward the road, no higher than 4 feet. Pile in wind rows like firewood, not heaped like a beaver dam. Keep materials free of pinecones, pine needles, mud, rocks, wire or other items that will clog or damage the chipper.
Do not stack in the road, next to fire hydrants, culverts or in any way that will impede traffic on the road.
No building debris, natural material only. Materials that cannot be chipped for any reason, including incorrectly stacked materials, will not be removed.
All chipped material will be returned to the homeowner’s property.
If you other types of green waste. A 40-yard green waste container will again be available at the District’s solid waste dumpster area, located on Loop Road. This container is intended to assist Kirkwood residents in disposal of green waste defensible space-type debris only. Examples are pine needles, small tree limbs, shrubs, bushes, and willows. This container is also NOT intended for tree trunks, stumps, non-vegetation items, dirt, rock, lumber, trash.
